Breaking Boundaries is a unique rehabilitation centre with the determination to set a new industry benchmark for capacity building and maximising functional neurological recovery.
Our team is driven by pioneering therapists who specialise in complex neurological and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. We pride ourselves on supporting people throughout their journey, not only during their physiotherapy sessions. It's a place where individuals of all capabilities can train to reach their goals.
We offer a range of services to partner with people to break through boundaries and achieve their goals. At Breaking Boundaries we are determined to set a new industry benchmark for capacity building and rehabilitation.
We work with every person to create an individualised approach to rehabilitation and plan our therapy to reflect individual goals.

The REX exoskeleton is a treatment tool as it allows the user to stand, walk and do standing exercises.
Hydrotherapy has a huge benefit for people with neurological conditions and can have great benefits for rehabilitation.
Exercise physiology aims to analyse fitness to help improve health/well-being and achieve optimal physical function.
Getting to the clinic is not always easy and sometimes its more convenient to have a therapist come to you.
Director of Physiotherapy
Pip is passionate about rehabilitation and allowing individuals to set their own goals. Since graduating as a physiotherapist in 2005 she initially worked with elite athletes until she began working with an athlete who sustained a Spinal Cord Injury playing NRL.
Pip realised this was where her passion lay, helping people be the best that they can be. It also highlighted to her the lack of treatment options available to individuals with a Spinal Cord Injury and other life changing conditions, so she started Breaking Boundaries. Pip believes strongly in a patient-centred approach and will move mountains to help the Breaking Boundaries members achieve what they want to in life. The answer is never 'no'. It is only 'how'. No-one should ever remove your hope or dreams.
Sian graduated with a Masters of Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney in 2013. Sian’s interest in physiotherapy began when a farming accident left her with a mild physical disability when she was young, and physiotherapy got her up and walking again. In 2008, she swam at the Paralympic games in Beijing, and in 2015 backpacked for 14 months around the globe.
These experiences led her to gain a greater understanding of disability and what a person can achieve. Sian has a keen interest in disability and neurological conditions in both adults and children. She believes in working with a person-centred approach towards individualised goals and enjoys helping people get the most out of life.
Hayley graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) from the University of Newcastle and has jumped straight into working in her area of passion - neurological rehabilitation. Hayley has worked with complex spinal cord injuries for the past few years as a therapy assistant. This gives her the ability to bring an experienced and fresh outlook to the Breaking Boundaries team. Her special interests include chronic pain, amputees, functional electrical stimulation and playing with your therapy dogs.
Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) from the University of Newcastle in 2019 and joined the team at Breaking Boundaries in mid 2020. She developed a strong admiration for neurological physiotherapy during her studies, as well as throughout her time as a support worker in the disability sector. Emily has over three years experience working with people who have various conditions including complex traumatic brain injury, and her specific interests include progressive neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and MND. She also has experience working as a physiotherapist in the aged care sector, and firmly believes that any person of any age has the ability to achieve and surpass their therapy goals with the right approach.
Outside of work, you’ll find Emily cruising up and down Newcastle’s waterways in her rowing boat. She also enjoys travelling, her indoor plant collection, and finding new places to eat

She was the Media Advisor at Goninan. This is when she met her husband Mark; he was the pilot of the helicopter used often to chase trains up and down the east coast.
Cheryl also worked for a bank as the National Communications Manager but her most interesting job was a university placement at Cessnock Corrective Centre in the 90’s, in the education section, where she helped inmates with their educational studies. This is where Cheryl learnt skills to deal with difficult people. In her spare time, Cheryl and her husband Mark, are adventurers slowly ticking off their bucket list. Recent trips include sailing from Australia to South Africa, to chase the Big 5 on safari.
